Happy New Year!

Today is 01/01/11 – I can’t believe that this time next year I will be mummy to an 8 month old.  It feels ever so surreal!

Last night was a bit of a non-event.  We stayed up watching TV till midnight (although apparently I slept on the sofa between 10:30 and 11:30 pm), watched the fireworks out of the window, spoke to both sets of parents, and then were in bed by 12:20.

Last year I made 3 main resolutions to myself – to lose weight, to quit smoking and to find a new job.  Well 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!  I haven’t had a cigarette since New Years Eve 2009 and  I lost 42 lbs (from January to August).  The only thing which didn’t happen was the new job, however with my ill health through May and early June, and then finding out I was pregnant in August I feel quite at ease with this.

I am so excited about what this year holds for us.  I really can’t wait for Little Bean to arrive.  I can’t wait to be a mummy – oh and the fun side effect of all this is that I get 9 months off work which I am also looking forward to.  So here are my 2011 resolutions – although most of these will be from after our miracle is here (in no particular order):

  • To be a better housewife – I hate cooking and cleaning and all that stuff,  but I endeavour to try and improve my cooking and to stay on top of the cleaning.  It is a small sacrifice to make for my family.
  • To lose weight – I want to lose any weight that I have gained whilst I am pregnant, along with some of the extra weight which I was carrying pre-pregnancy.  My goal weight is 140 lbs.  I want to be healthy and happy again.
  • To become more environmentally friendly – I plan to breastfeed, use cloth nappies, and I also need to recycle more.
  • To blog more.  I have been doing pretty well with blogging weekly.  I want to try and keep this up.  I love looking back and seeing where I was a few months ago, and can’t wait till it becomes a year ago or even a few years ago… I  want to remember as much of my pregnancy and then Little Bean’s childhood as possible!

I hope that you all have a Happy New Year and that 2011 brings all that you wish for.
