My Pregnancy

Here is a snapshot of my pregnancy journey:

26/08/2010 – BFP! (CD 39)

02/09/2010 – Pregnancy confirmed by doctor.

09/09/2010 – Booking appointment with the midwife – first antenatal blood tests taken.  Estimated Due Date  from LMP  of 24/04/2011

05/10/2010 – First ultrasound (early due to cramping) -  1 perfect foetus with little heart pumping away.  Estimated Due Date changed to 29/04/2011 based on size of foetus.

(Coincidentally, an EDD of 29/04/11 dates back to a conception date of 06/08/2010 – my 30th birthday!)

28/10/2010 – Midwife appointment (13 weeks + 6 days) – booking details completed.  Blood tests for genetic abnormalities requested.

11/11/2010 – First movement felt (fluttering)

02/12/2010 – Letter from hospital confirming that blood tests have not revealed a high risk of genetic abnormalities

13/12/2010 – Second ultrasound (20 weeks + 3 days) – no abnormalities detected.  Baby measuring exactly for dates.  Baby Bean is most likely to be a GIRL!  (Sonographer unable to confirm for sure as baby was in the wrong position, however no ‘boy parts’ were seen!)

14/12/2010 – First Braxton Hicks Contraction.  Midwife appointment (20 weeks + 4 days) - Heard Little Bean’s heartbeat for the first time (rate not known).  Blood tests from booking appointment given all clear. (Iron levels among highest seen by midwife at 13.5).

23/12/2010 – Blood test taken to screen for Gestational Diabetes

24/12/2010 – More Braxton Hicks Contractions.  Little Bean kicked in response to external pressure on belly.

07/01/2011 – First trip to Triage – frequent shooting pains, Little Bean’s heart rate good, blood pressure normal, suspected gall stones – to be confirmed by outpatient ultrasound

10/01/2011 - Little Bean kicked hard enough to be felt on the outside of my belly

11/01/2011 – Midwife appointment (24 weeks + 4 days) – Blood pressure normal, diabetes screening test normal, Little Bean not keen on having her heart rate listened to and kicked the Doppler away twice, heart rate 140.  J finally felt baby kick.  Midwife suspects I have SPD and refers me for Physio.

17/01/2011 – Physio appointment (25 weeks + 3 days) – given support belt and exercises, told to return if it worsens

19/01/2011 – Gallstones confirmed by ultrasound.  Awaiting appointment with obstetrician.

22/01/2011 – 2nd Blood test taken to screen for Gestational Diabetes

28/01/2011 – Letter received from hospital stating diabetes screening failed, booked in for 3 hour Glucose Tolerance Test at 9:00 am on 03/02/2011.

01/02/2011 – Midwife appointment (27 weeks + 4 days) – All normal except a small amount of glucose in my pee.  Baby in a breech position.  Fundal height measuring 28.5 cm.

01/02/2011 – Small amount of red blood spotting – 2nd trip to Triage.  Blood pressure high.  Baby’s heart rate 150 bpm.  Internal showed cervix high and closed.  No obvious cause for spotting.

03/02/2011 – Glucose Tolerance Test

04/02/2011 – GTT passed!

07/02/2011 – 2nd Physio appointment – given tubigrip for belly and crutches to improve mobility.  Next appointment when I finish work.  28 week screening blood tests taken.

24/02/2011 - Signed off work for 2 weeks with severe SPD  (30 weeks + 6 days)

01/03/2011 -  Midwife appointment (31 weeks + 4 days) – Blood pressure and pee normal.  Baby now head down.  Fundal Height measuring 33 cm.  Referred to Day Assessment Unit due to Diminished Fetal Movements.

01/03/2011 – Day Assessment Unit – Fetal heartbeat monitored for 50 mins.  Average 140 bpm.  Movements within the expected norm.

08/03/2011 – Midwife appointment (32 weeks + 4 days)
